Vicky Welsh is your Nordic walking coach
Nordic walking weekend (No spaces)
Whether you’re new to Nordic walking or an experienced Nordic walker, this weekend led by Vicky is set in the beautiful Surrey Hills – an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is a chance to learn or refresh your Nordic walking skills, enjoy some fabulous walking trails, visit pretty villages, learn some of the history of the area, and eat in some stunning gastropubs.
Date: 11-12 October 2024 (10am Friday – 4pm Saturday)
On day one you will be walking on tracks and trails between the villages of Albury and Shere. Our lunch stop will be The White Horse pub (featured in the film ‘The Holiday’) and Vicky will take you into the magnificent Albury Park and the old Saxon church which was used for one of the weddings in the film ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’. Dinner and accommodation will be in The Drummond, named after Henry Drummond the landowner who moved the entire village to its new location back in 1842.
On day two you will start at the Drummond and walk to St Martha-on-the-hill, a grade II listed building which occupies one of the most stunning settings of any place of worship in Britain. It is on the Pilgrims Way, the ancient 141 mile pilgrimage route between Winchester and Canterbury cathedrals. We will follow the Pilgrim Way towards Guildford, before joining the canal path leading us to yet another gastropub, The Seahorse, where we will stop for lunch. Our route back will be along the Tillingbourne valley passing the remains of the Chilworth Gunpowder Mills and going through pretty water-meadows.
All meals, accommodation, Nordic walking tuition, and loan of Nordic walking poles are included. Distances each day are approximately 7 miles.
Team building Nordic walking workshops
Nordic walking’s a fun activity session to break up a staff training day or tag onto a team social. It can be done by everyone, whatever their fitness level, so it’s a great way to bring people together and get them moving, talking, and connecting in a social, non-competitive, non-judgemental way.
Original and completely new for most, you will be getting people outdoors and improving their mental and physical health. They will also come away with tips on how to walk and move better, improve their posture and general wellbeing.
Learner and improver Nordic walking workshops
Vicky runs regular beginner and refresher Nordic walking workshops, where you can learn – or refresh your knowledge of – the Nordic walking technique and discover the positive effect this easy, fun outdoor activity has on your body and mind.
New dates coming soon for July and August.
